Diagnosis
<p class="ql-align-justify">Sections examined show scanty omental fibroadipose tissue infiltrated by malignant epithelial tumor arranged in irregular glandular structures and nests. The tumor is moderately differentiated, showing desmoplastic stromal reaction.</p><p class="ql-align-justify">Immunostaining was done with appropriate positive and negative controls and revealed: retained nuclear expression of MLH1, PMS2, MSH2, and MSH6 in tumor cells.</p><p class="ql-align-justify"><br></p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Referred block for immunostaining of omentشl lesion, suspected ovarian carcinomatosis related to primary ovarian cancer.</p>
<p>One referred paraffin block.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Omentum, lesion, biopsy (referred block):</u></em></strong></p><ul><li class="ql-align-justify"><strong>Scanty material, Consistent with metastatic moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma. </strong></li><li class="ql-align-justify"><strong>Retained nuclear expression of MLH1, PMS2, MSH2, and MSH6.</strong></li><li class="ql-align-justify"><strong>No evidence of mismatch repair protein loss identified.</strong></li><li class="ql-align-justify"><strong>Findings are consistent with microsatellite stable status.</strong></li></ul><p><strong>Comment</strong>:</p><h5 class="ql-align-justify"><strong>The retained expression of all mismatch repair proteins indicates an intact mismatch repair system and does not support microsatellite instability. </strong></h5>
