<p class="ql-align-justify">Smears show a dense population of neutrophils with many cell debris and some small lymphocytes as well as reactive mesothelial cells. No evidence of atypical or malignant cells.</p>

<p><strong><em><u>Pleural fluid, conventional cytology:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong> Marked (suppurative) inflammatory changes.</strong></li><li><strong> Negative for malignant cells. </strong></li><li><strong>Category II according to The International System for Reporting Serous Fluid Cytology, ISRSFC.</strong></li></ul>
