Diagnosis
<p class="ql-align-justify">Nodular hyperplasia of prostatic glands and the fibromuscular stroma. Glands exhibit focal cystic change with epithelial infoldings. The normal lobular pattern is preserved and cytologic features are unremarkable. Focal basal cell hyperplasia is noted. Stroma shows focal infiltration by lymphocytes and plasma cells. No evidence of malignancy.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Lower urinary tract symptoms and urinary retention, characterized by a moderately enlarged and mildly hard prostate on digital rectal examination, an elevated Total Prostate Specific Antigen of 222 ng/ml, free PSA 15.3 ng/ml, and ultrasound findings of a 60 g enlarged prostate.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Received in 6 containers, 1 from right apex, 2 right middle, 3 right base, 4 left apex, 5 left middle and #6 left base; tissue cores ranged from 1 to 1.2 cm long, submitted entirely.</p>
<p><strong><u>PROSTATE; RT & LT apex, RT & LT middle, and RT & LT base; CORE BIOPSIES:</u></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Nodular adenofibromyomatous hyperplasia with focal basal cell hyperplasia and associated chronic non-specific prostatitis.</strong></li><li><strong>Negative for malignancy. </strong></li></ul>
