Smears are cellular showing many lymphoid cells and very scanty colloid. There are many large and small tight monolayer clusters of follicular cells exhibiting evident oxyphil change. Scatatred microfollicular formations are also seen. No evidence of atypia. Picture is consistent with Hashimoto's thyroiditis (Bethesda II) according to The Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology and follow up is recommended.
Multinodular goiter and suspected Hashimoto's thyroiditis, who exhibits an elevated TSH of 5.6 with normal T3 and T4 levels, positive anti-thyroid peroxidase antibodies.
