Sections show a dermal basaloid neoplasm composed predominantly of nodules and interconnecting adenoid structures formed by basaloid cells having hyperchromatic nuclei and scant cytoplasm. Peripheral palisading and stromal retraction clefts are noted. The intervening stroma is fibromyxoid. Mild nuclear pleomorphism with occasional mitotic figures is identified. No keratin pearl formation, necrosis or sebaceous differentiation is seen. The overlying epidermis is focally ulcerated. No evidence of lymphovascular or perineural invasion. The tumor is completely excised and all peripheral and deep surgical margins are free of tumor (least one is 0.2 cm).
Lt. lower eyelid lesion.
Skin elipse measured 1.4x1.2x0.7 cm, showing ulcerated greyish colored area measured 1x0.8 cm, totally embedded. Margins of excision are 0.2 cm, each.
