There is severe ulceration of colonic mucosa with reduced mucigenic cells and related dense infiltration by neutrophils and lymphocytes, amounting at crypt abscess formation in some areas. No evidence of dysplasia. No evidence of malignancy.
Chronic constipation and lower abdominal pain.
Two colonic biopsies were received:
1- Colonic biopsy: one soft tissue fragment measured 0.5 cm, totally embedded.
2- Biopsy from single ulcer at splenic flexure: soft tissue fragments collectively measured 0.9 cm, totally embedded.
Colonoscopic biopsies:
