(1) Intact colonic mucosa mildly infiltrated by lymphocytes and plasma cells with lymphoid follicles. Mucigenic cells are intact. Some neutrophils are seen infiltrating glands but there is no evidence of crypt abscesses. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.
(2) Polypoid lesion with focally ulcerated covering epithelium. Core shows hyperplastic and cystically dilated mucous glands separated by a moderate infiltrate of neutrophils, lymphocytes and plasma cells. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.
Rectal pedunculated polyp.
Two biopsies were received:
1- Colonic: soft tissue fragments collectively measured 1 cm, totally embedded.
2- Rectal polyp: polypoid soft tissue fragment measured 1.8x1.5 cm, totally embedded.
